This box was created to hold a prop jewelry piece from the Xena television series; a gold-colored anklet used in the filming of the last Xena episode.  That episode was set in Japan and in it, the Xena character wore a striking red kimono that was singed at the hem.  That was the inspiration for the cover of this box.  This is a modified clamshell box; a four-sided box with a hinged lid.  An insert was built to hold and display the anklet.

This box was made to hold a unique antique brass doorknob with a face cast into it that was a gift for an antique hardware collector.  This is a modified clamshell box; a four-sided box with a flat, hinged lid.  I wanted the closure on the box to be made of actual hardware to hint at what was inside.

This retirement gift presentation box was created for a wonderful metalsmithing instructor of mine (fabulous metalsmith Robert Laible) who retired after many years at our local community college.  As a retirement gift, the entire class pitched in to buy him a lovely Fretz planishing hammer and I created the presentation box for that hammer.  This is a modified clamshell box; a four-sided box with a hinged lid.  A variety of very nice leathers were used on the cover of this box.  Everyone in the class wrote a short page for a very small book that is tied to the inside of the lid.  This book was bound not by me, but by another member of the class, ceramicist Sara Holt, in very soft pigsuede leather with marbled endpapers.  The gift hammer rests on a removeable stand.  I truly enjoyed my years in this class.  Everyone in the class valued our instructor's patience, knowledge, and humor.  This final project was our collaboration for him.
